Have you noticed how much less you love your dog/cat than before you had kids? Isn’t it good that the same thing doesn’t happen to your other kids or your spouse!
We’re in the market for a new still camera. Anybody have any recommendations?
I am so excited for our tomatoes and peppers that are growing in our garden. I can’t wait to make some homemade salsa! I’m even growing the cilantro!
Why don’t kids just shut up and appreciate the fact that they get to nap? At some point in their lives they are really going to miss nap time.
Who are those brave souls who take their kids on 5 day trips to Disney World? We can hardly go to the farmer’s market in town without it being a major to-do. I can’t imagine the crap we would have to take, the food we would have to buy, and the tantrums we would have to endure.
Why is it so hard to maintain adult friendships when you have little kids? I have some of the best friends around and I still struggle to keep in touch as much as I should or want to. Unless the friends can appreciate an abrupt ending to a phone call like, “Oh, I gotta go. The baby is eating poo,” I just really have hard time staying in touch.

We don’t travel much as a family, so when we booked a hotel for a family wedding this weekend, we were naive.
Here’s my tip… When offered 2 double beds or a king, I opted for a king. Don’t do that. Get the two beds. Sharing a small space with my husband is a lot more fun than sharing a large space with my 3 year old and my husband. Basically, my husband had the equivalent to a double bed and then my son laid/pushed against me as my ass hang off the side of the bed.
Get 2 beds.

My taste has changed over time. From sports cars to SUV’s, my taste in cars has changed. I have a new dream car! Inspired by the wonderful summer breeze and watching old episodes of “Fantasy Island,” here is a picture of my new dream car:
Ok, I’d want the full-size version seen in the background. What a car! Bright red, great striped awning for a roof, T-top over the driver. Who needs windows!?!
I figure it’s big enough for the car seats plus storage, too. What’s your dream car?

My husband and I grew up about 200 miles from each other and enjoyed different things in our childhood, but we share one common memory…
We were with our kids eating some of those gigantic cheese puffs the other day. I started telling my husband that really nice summer days eating cheese puffs reminds me of when I was a kid. When I was little, we had a boat and we would take it out on the river. I was too young to remember things like skiing or driving the boat like my husband did with his family when he was young, but we both remember enjoying the “can” of Planter’s cheese balls with the yellow lid. I remember sitting on the floor of the boat (what strange carpet they put on boats), being a little over-sunned, a little over-tired, wrapped in a towel, and eating those cheese balls. The boat’s noises combined with the bobbing up and down over the waves was a summertime lullaby. Though having a boat and lugging the whole family out must have been a huge pain in the ass, I’m glad to have those memories.
I don’t even know if they make those cheese balls anymore, but it must have been the convenience of the lid, the insatiable taste of cheese dust, and the bliss of licking off your cheesy fingers that makes those things so popular in the summer!

Do you remember the “Walk of Shame?” I don’t remember actually doing this (or at least I”m not going to admit to it at this point), but basically it is the awkward feeling of walking back to your house/car the next morning after spending the night somewhere other than your own house. And, because you weren’t actually planning not to go home, you are forced to walk in the daylight wearing clothes that are obviously “going out” clothes from the night before.
So, as a married lady with 2 kids, this really isn’t a part of my vocabulary anymore. Today, however, while driving my son to the doctor, I saw a woman doing the grown-up walk of shame. She was dressed professionally, including heels, walking down a commercial street carrying the “oh you ran out of gas” bright red plastic gas can.
I felt bad for her and if I didn’t see that her car was not far off, I would have stopped. Thankfully that has never happened to me, but if it ever does happen, I bet it feels a lot like the old walk of shame (I mean if I knew what that felt like! )

I admit it. I’m terrible at making decisions. When it came to naming my children, both took almost 48 hours to get something down on paper.
I realize that some of these kids have renamed themselves, but have you checked out this season’s “So You Think You Can Dance” competitors? Maybe their parents should have taken a little longer before choosing these names… Here are some of the names:
Rayven, , Twitch, Comfort, Thayne, , Gev, Kherington, Katee
I do like the show and hope I enjoy it as much as last season.

We were having a dance party in the living room listening to Black Box “Everybody Everybody”. If you remember the song (who doesn’t remember this song?), you’ll know that the word “Oww” is used throughout. Well, my husband was singing along, but my son got very concerned about his daddy. When he heard his daddy sing he said, “What’s wrong Daddy? Are you ok?”
Awww.

2 stories here… One from a friend, another my own:
Friend: She was having party for her baby and tried to charge up her video camera. She plugged it in, but nothing was happening. She finally resorted to saying, “This thing is broken. We need a new camera.” Her husband went out and bought a really nice new video camera and brought it home. They plugged it in and nothing happened! Turns out it was the outlet that was broken, not the camera. After having the new camera with all of the new features, they decided to keep it even though they really weren’t in the market for a new one!
Mine: I was doing the normal laundry routine… Take the clean clothes out of the washer, throw it the dryer, turn the knob and push the start button. I did the steps as normal, but nothing happened! Crap. It figures. We were going to have to have the guy come out and fix the dryer and in the end I knew we were going to have to get a new dryer. I calmly told my honey that the dryer was broken and I was proud of him for heading down to try and tinker with it. A few minutes later he returned and told me that it was working. He said, “Well, the door wasn’t closed all the way. Maybe that was the problem?” I’m an idiot!!! I was just so in the “everything is going to break” mode that I didn’t even think about checking the freaking door!

I’m so excited that my flowers are here! My peonies are in full bloom and I’ve already got roses for cutting! I love it!
One of my favorite things to do is to share my flowers, but I realized that I’m short on my little bud vases (and the ones I have I kind of want to keep!). Here’s my tip of the day… go through your condiments in your fridge, rinse one out, and then you’ve got a great “vase” to give to your friends. It isn’t about the vase anyway, it’s about the beautiful flowers. It also gives you a chance to make sure you’ve got fresh products in the fridge. I gave one today and it was a couple of peonies housed in a recycled Taco Bell sauce container (please remove labels!).
Peace out.
