Most cartoons, including the ones we grew up with include the classics.  I can’t hear Beethoven’s 5th without thinking of some Looney Toons cartoons.
I love that we are exposed to masterpieces like that through playful media, but I am thrilled when I get to hear some different “classics” in kids’ shows.
If you haven’t seen “Flushed […]

Bad for the ego

My 2 year old son and I were looking at pictures the other day.  I was trying to explain that his baby sister was once in my tummy and showed him one of my full term “belly pictures.”  Granted, my head/face wasn’t in the picture, but it didn’t make it hurt any less when he pointed […]

Pony Potty

Has anyone else tried potty training by having the kiddo sit on the big potty facing the back/tank?
We’re still working on this, but my son enjoys riding the pony potty.

Update:  I found this site that had some fun ideas:
http://www.mommysavers.com/frugal-decorating/decorating-kids-rooms-budget.shtml
 Original Blog from July:
Decorating a nursery is one of the fun parts of having a new baby.  For our little girl, we had a great time painting her room pink and green and it looks precious!!!  My son’s room, however, needs some work.  When we moved […]

More Fun with Words

I mentioned how my son’s vocabulary is in the building years, right?
Here are some more words that he has pulled into his mind to make sense of things.
Pointing to a cute little spiky critter in a book, he said “Look!  Pineapple!”  Of course, he knew the animal had the word “pine” in it… just a […]

My son may someday kill me for writing this one, but it’s pretty funny!
We’ve been working on potty training, so I’ve let him run around and spend more time “au natural.”  Well, the other day he was coloring and apparently felt stifled by my suggestion of coloring the paper, because he apparently headed south with […]

The Dirty Queen

I’m not an expert in child language development, but I have noticed that my son has gone from parroting new words he hears to pulling in words from his vocabulary when he encounters a new word.
 Here’s an example:
When my husband and I decided to go out for a summer ice cream trip, we talked up […]

Spray the Poopy

I should learn that when I walk away from my 2.5 year old that I’m always rolling the disaster dice.  Today I rolled one time too many.  We’re in the proces of potty training, so I was trying something new today.   I let him runaround diaperless and had the potty out in the family room […]

My 2 year old loves his silky blankets!  Not only does he use them to comfort him to sleep, he plays with them throughout the day.  This morning, I was elated when he draped his favorite blanket across my back like a cape and pronounced me, “Super Mommy!”
Had he asked for ice cream for breakfast […]

My 4 month old daughter woke up last night at 2:00.  That was unusual for her as she doesn’t usually wake up until after 4 or 5:00.  When I went into her room, I struggled with whether I should feed her or just try to get her back to sleep without feeding.  I opted for […]
