Catching Up

I’ve been a little busy to blog much, so here is a sampling of some of my random thoughts.
TV Talking Points:
The Axe commericial is gross. Have you seen it? It’s the one that starts with a good looking guy but then he sprays an entire bottle of Axe “cologne” on his body and then he cracks his head against the wall and suddenly his body starts peeling or falling off similar to the boiled eggs’ shells from Easter. 1). Axe is gross and is not an attractive smell. 2). If you’re so dirty that the stink needs that much spray, please opt for the shower instead of the stinky Axe. 3). If you’re so dirty that the dirt chips off, you need serious help. Perhaps some exfoliation is in order.
HGTV DreamHouse… I’m ticked that I didn’t win, but if you watched the announcement of the winner last week, maybe you also noticed the total lack of enthusiasm by the winner. I thought she was drunk at first, but then it just appeared completely ambivalent. Really? You just won a $2.2 million dollar house and you can’t show a little joy/appreciation/shock? Geez.
The View: I’m glad Whoopi is back. She balances things out and states her views well. Elizabeth Hasselbeck on the other hand is annoying. Other than her wardrobe, I don’t care for her. I hope she leaves the show.
Movie Reviews:
Bee Movie: fun movie, but no where near the quality in visual or story as Finding Nemo. Bonus: Jerry Seinfeld is great. Biggest annoyance: the presence of Renee Zelweger.
Enchanted: very cute… my kids weren’t into it, but it was a nice nap time flick for Mommy. Bonus: HOT men… Patrick Dempsey AND James Marsden. Now that’s what I call a matinee!
Casablanca: I happened to watch this the other day and have to state the obvious… it’s a great movie. If you haven’t seen it or it has been awhile, check it out. It’s interesting to watch… has romance, danger, and some interesting relationships.
Food Zone:
My friends the Seinfelds… Last night we were watching the Bee Movie (see above) which is Jerry Seinfeld, of course. While we were watching, I was working with Jessica Seinfeld’s cookbook, “Deceptively Delicious.” Basically, it is a book of recipes that incorporates vegetable purees (sweet potato, squash, cauliflower, etc.) into the meals. For example, this morning I made pancakes with sweet potatoes in them. Not bad. I have to say that cooking the veggies then pureeing was a lot of work, but hey, I’ll try some recipes and see how it goes.

I have been thinking about getting that cookbook. My sister-in-law has it and I have tried, brownies w/spinach and blueberries, Oatmeal muffins w/squash, and cupcakes w/beets and cauliflower. They were pretty good. I may be too lazy to do all the prep work though.
I will have to check out Enchanted, two of my favorites in there!
We saw the Bee movie too and even though Renee didn’t bother me, Jerry really did, it just seems like he has no real emotion in his voice, not enough to carry an animated character anyway.
That cookbook is like everywhere, I have been hearing about it everywhere I turn. Must have some phenomenal recipes.
