I’m a Cleaniac, Cleaniac, on the Floor…

You wouldn’t necessarily know it if you walked in my house on any given day, but I like to clean. I like to clean and I love a clean house. I spend a lot of time trying to keep the house clean and even when I get the place “clean,” I know I can wipe baseboards, vacuum ceiling fans, wipe out the refrigerator, etc. There really is no end and perhaps little satisfaction because there is always more that can be done.
My Mom recently (today) admitted that she probably spent too much time cleaning when she was home with kids. She said she would have rather been perfecting her cooking (she’s already a very good cook).
This made me think… Do I spend too much time trying to clean up? The following is a great quote from Phyllis Diller:
“Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing is like shoveling the sidewalk before it stops snowing”
What a great and true quote!
I think the reason I attempt to clean is because a clean house, particularly a neat house, represents organization. If there is crap all over the floor, and there often is, it makes me feel a little out of control. A clean floor, free of thousands of small toys, represents peace and serenity and control.
“A place for everything and everything in its place.” It’s not really a life motto, but certainly a personal goal? ![]()
