Toys R NOT Us
Sep 24th, 2007 by mom
I don’t want to be a Toys R Us kid. In fact, I don’t want anything to do with the store!
Ok, I’ll still buy from them if it is the best deal around, but I’m ticked off. I went there today to buy a new booster chair. I had the two kids with me, so I had to move fast.
I went through the checkout with little problems, walked out the door, then realized that I forgot to use the gift card that I had intended to use. I asked my son to be patient while we went back in to the customer service desk. I politely told the “manager” that I had forgotten to use the card and wanted to see if I could take the charge off my card and put the purchase on the gift card.
He looked at me like I was crazy. He said, “Well, I guess I can return it here, but you’ll have to ‘rebuy’ it by standing in line at one of the checkout lines again.”
Are you kidding me?
This is supposed to be a family/kid friendly store. It wasn’t like I was asking for that much, was I? It wasn’t a really busy time of the day! Anyway, I went back through the store to get to the checkout lanes AGAIN. Clipped another coupon from the flyer AGAIN and got in line. While I was waiting, I watched the “manager” stand there chit chatting with what appeared to be his non-uniformed, non-shopping girlfriend. As I left I made sure I checked the name printed on his ugly vest. Kurt.
I’ll be writing a letter tomorrow to let Toys’ HQ know about this ridiculous “customer service.”

I’ve had problems with Babies R Us & I agree with you…I’ll only shop there if necessary. What terrible service! I hope you do write a letter (if you have the time!). It’s very frustrating that there aren’t that many options when it comes to registering for baby stuff or getting the exact toy you’re looking for. You always have Target, but they don’t have EVERYTHING that the ‘R Us stores have.
That would really irk me! So many places out there know nothing about good customer service and have no idea how to treat people with kids. Once in a blue moon I get someone who helps out and it makes such the difference whether I will ever shop there again.
